Introduction:

This crash data request web map app has been developed on behalf of the University of New Mexico, Geospatial and Population Studies to provide users with annual crash maps. This website provides access to a variety of New Mexico traffic crash and DWI (driving while impaired) data available on behalf of the New Mexico Department of Transportation, Traffic Safety Division, Traffic Records Bureau (NMDOT).

Read before you proceed:

The use of the data which you have requested is governed by 23 United States Code § 409. Under this law, the crash data maintained by NMDOT is for purposes of evaluating potential highway safety enhancements on New Mexico roads and to provide statistical data to the public. The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) is allowing you to inspect this data with the understanding that you will not use this data contrary to the restrictions in § 409. If you should attempt to use this data in an action for damages against the NMDOT or the Sate, NMDOT and the State expressly reserve their right, under § 409, to object to the use of the data and including any opinions drawn from the data.

The documentation below provides a description of each data variable in the NMDOT crash database.

The NMDOT crash database is compiled using the Uniform Crash Report, a statewide form submitted by the many law enforcement agencies in the state to NMDOT for any crash on a public roadway involving one or more motor vehicles that resulted in death, personal injury, or at least $500 in property damage. No account is kept of unreported crashes, and the database does not include crashes on private property.

Crash-level Data Dictionary and User's Guide. The crash-level file contains one record for each crash. Multiple vehicles and persons may be involved in any given crash.

You can filter points/markers on the map using different selection shapes available in the spatial selection tool on the left side of the map.

How to Select Points

• Circle Selection: Click to draw a circle. All points inside the circle will be filtered.
• Rectangle Selection: Click to draw a rectangle. All points inside the rectangle will be filtered.
• Polygon Selectio: Click to draw a custom polygon. All points inside the polygon will be filtered.

How to Clear a Selection

• To remove the current selection and return to the original map view, click .
• Once cleared, you can make a new selection.

How to Remove the Shape Created

• To delete an existing shape, click
• After erasing, click the Finish button next to the eraser tool to confirm the deletion.
